DONNA HUTTON - "About Me"
Before I tell you about my background, I want first to make three direct promises to you:
- I will be an honest and full-time MP
- I am an ordinary working person who will fight for what you need and want
- I will be careful with your money, not “live the good life” at your expense
So, what about my background?
I have been active in the Labour Party and all elections for over 25 years, succeeding in helping Labour win many times. I have been a Political Education Officer, Constituency Women’s Officer; Secretary for the Women’s Forum; and Trade Union Liaison Officer. I regularly attend my Branch meetings, was until last year Chair of the North Wales Consultative Committee (previously Vice-Chair), and have been a delegate to all Wales conferences for many years.
Other life experience:
I have been active in the voluntary sector with a national youth group (15 years) and within the local community. I have been Treasurer to both the Colwyn Bay Co-operative Party and the Conwy County Labour Party. I also try to play an active part as a member of the Co-operative Group, another important arm of our movement. In work I have always been an active Trade Unionist and have held many posts over the years, now as workplace rep for Uite. I currently work for UNISON as a Regional Officer and prior to that worked for Wales TUC Learning Services as a Development Officer.
Family life:
I am part of a close family. My parents live in the constituency and one of my sisters lives just outside, the other in America. I have been married to my Dyserth-born husband, Mike, for 30 years and, although we have no children of our own, we have six wonderful nephews and nieces.
You can see what I am doing now by following the campaign and viewing photographs from around the constituency on Facebook.
