The SRA includes Colwyn Bay, which has been welcomed by Donna Hutton, Labour Parliamentary Candidate.

“We have all been keen to receive more news since last October, when Colwyn Bay and Rhyl were designated by the Welsh Assembly Government as part of a £38 million regeneration package to fund various North Wales schemes,” said Mrs Hutton.

“The scheme should increase the prosperity of Colwyn Bay and help rid us of a negative image,” continued Ms Hutton.

"Amongst the many issues facing Colwyn Bay are poor housing, high levels of deprivation in some areas, skills shortages and areas where the environment is not of a high enough standard," she said.

Ms Hutton concluded, "The town also suffers from something of a poor image, particularly out there where we need to be finding more investors. Although we are a major shopping centre and tourist destination, all too often I hear Colwyn Bay grouped with ‘failed towns’.

"This is something we must address before it really gets a hold and does us lasting damage.”
