COUNCIL FALLING DOWN ON ITS DUTY OVER COLLAPSED BRIDGE
Disruption to travel caused by a collapsed bridge is causing inconvenience to hundreds of Vale residents, according to Labour’s Ruthin spokesperson, Donna Hutton.

at closed road to collapsed Gellifor bridge.
“The bridge is on a key route used by residents of the Gellifor area on their daily commute to work or for shopping ,” said Mrs Hutton.
“But now they have to follow a difficult and narrow diversion because the council has not repaired the bridge. It is months since the bridge collapsed, with no end to the disruption in sight.”
On top of the inconvenience to local residents, the diversions are also putting added strain on roads into and out of Ruthin, carrying hundreds of extra vehicles each day.
“Highways at the council have accepted it is their statutory duty to maintain the public highway, which was carried by the bridge, but they have been unable to give anybody a clear idea about when the Listed structure will be back in use,The council officers need better political leadership.” continued Mrs Hutton.
“Such a mess would not be allowed to drag on if it was an urban road, and it is clearly unacceptable for people around Gellifor to suffer a poor service. I shall be doing all I can to ensure the bridge is put back to rights quickly.”
Gellifor resident Mary Chaffe added "I am really grateful to Mrs Hutton for getting involved in this matter. This problem is adding time and mileage for many people going about their everyday business"
