DON’T FALL FOR MODERN FASCIST LIES – HITLER WAS ELECTED!

“Far right parties have nowadays changed their tactics, like swapping their swastika armbands for the smart suits of the British National Party”, said Donna Hutton at the North Wales Anti Fascist & Racist service on Sunday 17th May 2009.

The service was organised at the Cenotaph in Flint by Searchlight, who campaign against the rise of fascism and racism, coinciding with similar services being held at the same time in Cardiff and Swansea.

Ms Hutton is Labour’s Parliamentary Candidate for Clwyd West, which includes Colwyn Bay, Abergele, Ruthin and Towyn. She appealed to people to remember the recent past, “In his book, ‘Mein Kamph’, Hitler admitted people tend to believe the biggest, most audacious lies. The big lie today is that the BNP is a reasonable organisation, and not a real threat.

“I really hope people will remember that the people the BNP so admire were actively killing half a million British people just over 60 years ago. Their only appeal is through the culture of blame and hatred.

“And this is not some remote, academic threat. In the council elections in 2008 we saw three BNP candidates elected in my constituency. They quickly recanted in the glare of publicity, but the fact remains they were all elected to local councils in our area last year.

“We must not forget that Hitler’s Nazis did not burn down their Parliament and ban other political parties until they had been elected by the people, who believed their massive lies.

“We have all seen their leaflets dropping through out letter boxes this week, and here they are again, a few generations later, pedalling what appear to be reasonable policies, playing on fears and blaming others for our problems. They want to con enough people into voting for them at the European elections to give them some MEPs and therefore a foothold in the European Parliament.

Donna Hutton concluded, “The BNP must not be allowed to make hatred and extremism become acceptable again. I am confident the Welsh electorate, a decent, tolerant people, will see through their lies and send them off with the message that they are not welcome here on 4th June.”
