LABOUR CAMPAIGNERS PRESS HEALTH MINISTER ON ABERGELE HOSPITAL

Following concerns of local people about the future of Abergele Hospital, Labour County Councillor Jean Stubbs today met Assembly Health Minister Edwina Hart. Councillor Stubbs and Labour Parliamentary Candidate, Donna Hutton, described to the Minister the worries of local people.

Councillor Stubbs said, “There has been a lot of uncertainty caused by the earlier Health Board strategy for secondary care in North Wales, which has been discredited as completely inadequate.” The meeting was very positive, with Mrs Hart listening to the concerns of local people, that they should still have access to top quality services. “The clear message we are getting,” continued Councillor Stubbs, “is that even if orthopaedics move away from the hospital, it will still be used to deliver public services to the community. And we are determined to make sure that Abergele Surgery is finally completed as part of any package.”

ENDS.
• Jean Stubbs is Labour Councillor for Abergele Pensarn Ward
