LABOUR CANDIDATE WANTS POTHOLES FIXED

Donna Hutton, Labour’s General Election candidate, has called for urgent repairs to potholes in Colwyn Bay.

“A lot of holes in road surfaces have been made much worse by the recent ice and frost, and some are definitely dangerous. On Saturday I saw cars on Princes Drive (pictured – inset Donna Hutton) moving to the middle of the road or trying to drive in the gutter to avoid huge potholes”, said Ms Hutton.

Ms Hutton continued, “I am particularly worried that cyclists and motorcyclists could easily be thrown off and injured if they hit such big holes, as well as damage to other vehicles. Some look to be a couple of inches deep in places.

“And stored-up problems are now going to be harder to fix. Where secondary roads have not been looked after, some surfaces have been broken up and will now be very expensive to repair. There are any number of examples, such as the top of Dinerth Road and Church Road in Rhos-on-Sea”.

Ms Hutton has contacted Conwy Highways Department about the problem, seeking urgent action.

Since this media release, the Labour-led Welsh Assembly has announced an extra £2.75M for local authorities to help them tackle the numerous pot holes left by the recent snow storms and heavy rain.
