PASSING OF LABOUR STALWART MOURNED BY LOCAL PARTY

The death of Anne Hartley, a longstanding Party member, has been described by Donna Hutton, Labour’s Parliamentary Candidate, as a sad loss of a unique individual and much valued campaigner.

“Anne Hartley was a stalwart, with more than 70 years Labour Party membership, which is a terrific sign of loyalty and steadfastness,” said Ms Hutton.

News of Annie’s passing away has drawn many tributes. She had lived for a number of years in Kinmel Bay, and local Councillor, Jean Stubbs, said, “Ann was an inspiration, setting up many branches and youth groups, and helping start Clwyd West Constituency Party.” Chris Hughes, Leader of Conwy County Council Labour Group, said, ”She was a formidable campaigner and fundraiser, pictured on the front page of The Sun, kissing Tony Blair two days before the 2001 General Election!”

Having joined the Labour Party before the Second World War, Anne was awarded Honorary Life Membership by Tony Blair when Prime Minister.

Anne Hartley’s funeral will be at 11.30am on 31st March at Colwyn Bay Crematorium.
